Ira S. Brodsky

Ira Brodsky is President of Datacomm Research Company, a management consulting and market research firm specializing in emerging computing and communications. Mr. Brodsky has chaired eight industry conferences; authored over 100 published articles; served on the Advisory Board for COMDEX; and is a regular columnist for Network World and Wireless Review. He is frequently quoted in leading business publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, BusinessWeek, and Telecommunications Reports. He is the author of two books: Wireless: The Revolution in Personal Telecommunications (Artech House, 1995) and Wireless Computing: A Manager's Guide To Wireless Networking (Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1997) (Foreword by George Gilder).

Prior to founding DRC, Mr. Brodsky was Director of Product Marketing for modem manufacturer U.S. Robotics, Inc. He has also held technical marketing positions with Tektronix and Gandalf Technologies. Mr. Brodsky is a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and a member of the IEEE.

Mr. Brodsky is known for his pioneering efforts in wireless communication markets. His original forecasts for mobile data and wireless LANs have withstood the test of time. Mr. Brodsky is also known as an early advocate of CDMA technology. He defended the technology -- prior to its successful commercial launch -- under heavy attack from critics and competitors.
